Let’s make a show of strength for culture on Wednesday 4 December at 6pm in the Full Council Meeting at Peterborough Town Hall

During the Full Council Meeting on December 4 at 6pm at the Town Hall on Bridge Street, an evicted tenant from Chauffeurs Cottage will be asking the big question to make sure Creatives in the city don’t have to keep reliving Groundhog Day when it comes to investment in culture.

The Question: What steps will the city council put in place to work more collaboratively with city culture organisations to our mutual benefit as a city?

Independent artist, Anita, who’s based at Metal, has put together an action plan for how you can help make sure the response from the Council is a beneficial one.

Can you…

  1. Join the Meeting

    Join online:
    YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@PboroughCityCouncil
In the live chat, please let them know who you are & why you are here, “I am here from [] to support the asks for better cultural engagement in the city.” And feel free to field any thoughts or questions you have.
    Facebook or Twitter/X: https://www.peterborough.gov.uk/council/governance/council-meetings-live-web-stream

    Join in person:
The full council meeting is hosted at the Town Hall on Bridge Street. The front door will be closed, so you will need to go around the back of the building. Wear something that makes it clear you work in the arts (We’re a creative bunch, I will leave that one to you!). We will be sat in the public gallery.

See more details on the Council Calendar closer to the date, including our full published question: https://democracy.peterborough.gov.uk/ieListDocuments.aspx?CId=139&MId=5074

  2. Send Anita any Specific Commitments You Want From the Council
Anita will ask a follow-up question, and will be asking various portfolio holders to engage with cultural strategy meetings and leaders in the city. If you think you have a particular ask for a portfolio holder, please send to her by Sunday 1 December and she will include it in the follow up question.
    (Email Anita at anita.nayyar@gmail.com.)

  3. Follow Up With Your Local Councillors
Get in touch with them and ask whether they will honour the commitments submitted at the Full Council meeting.

If you need more information or details, contact Anita here.
